Abstract:

Nigeria has experienced heavy rains and devastating floods that have caused loss of lives and properties, population displacement and extensive destruction of houses, farm lands and infrastructure. The 2022 flood was one of the most devastating in the history of Nigeria as over three million people had been affected in 34 states. The study investigated audience perception and attitude to broadcast media message against 2022 flooding in Nigeria. The study was anchored on agenda setting and selective perception theories. The study adopted library research method and made use of secondary source of data. However the broadcast media messages were not convincing enough. The study recommended that the media should be involved in periodic public service announcement, programs which aimed at proactively educating the people on environmental hazards.
